On Oct. 30, 2016, The New Haven register published an article on the state’s Minority Teacher Recruitment Task Force and cited ConnCAN research:

According to statistics gathered by the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now, 151 of the state’s 2,092 teacher preparation program graduates came from alternative routes to certification programs in 2012. Wentzell said one of the biggest roadblocks to teacher certification in Connecticut is its lack of reciprocity with other states’ certification programs.

“We’re looking to make fewer hoops to jump through and trying to streamline the process” for teachers moving from other states, she said. “We want to be the state where everyone wants to teach.”
