Nationwide screening of The Lottery tonight

 Today is the first nationwide screening of The Lottery, a documentary on school choice in New York. It will play tonight at 7:30 pm at six different locations throughout Connecticut (find a location near you here).

Funding for charter schools still inequitable

A new report published by Ball State University (a follow-up to the 2005 study by the Thomas Fordham Institute) takes a look at school funding in 24 states to see if the funding disparities

The big day

Today is the big day: the last day for states to submit their applications to Washington to be considered for Round 2 of Race to the Top. The stack of applications will be shorter this time around--about 34 states are expected to apply, compared to 41 in Round 1-- but with so many states having made significant improvements to their applications, the competition is expected to be tough nonetheless.

 Breaking news: Governor Rell just signed the Race to the Top bill into law. Now that we know the results of a hard-fought campaign, it's a good time to take a step back and remember why we’re fighting this fight. This 30-second video below helps remind us why—and it’s pretty adorable, too.
